AQUAMARINE

Aquamarine is a variety of beryl, and so is closely related to emerald. In its gem quality it is a precious stone of a delicate pale blue, blue green through to green colour, quite easily confused with irradiated topaz which can have a very similar, slightly more steely colour, without the hint of green.

As with nearly all precious stones, the value depends on size, clarity, flawlessness and colour. Pale greenish blue is best. And as always, be careful if it is large and too perfect; nature doesn't often work that way. Without being able to test , buy only from people you trust!
