GREEN AMETHYST

Green Amethyst or Prasiolite is a rare form of quartz, occurring naturally in a small mine in Brazil, and has been found in Poland and in Canada. It is also formed by heating some types of amethyst; usually heating results in a yellow colour (citrine) but sometimes - quite rarely - a beautiful, delicate shade of green.

Here is a picture of our green amethyst in April 2011; it does not do justice to the beautiful shade of green because of the slightly yellow lighting.

Although a very unusual stone, it is very popular and so we have made sure to have a wide selection. We have earrings, rings, necklaces and one or two bracelets; but only one of each design, as they are all individually handmade.
