SPECTROLITE
A beautiful stone often confused with moonstone. The fact that is usually called "Rainbow moonstone" adds to the confusion. Many people call it moonstone and probably in a few year's time it will be universally known as moonstone. In fact, although both are varieties of feldspar, they are quite distinct. Spectrolite can show almost any colour of the rainbow on its shine, or "schiller" whereas moonstone will only show white or blue.
It is closely related to Labradorite, but has a much lighter "body" colour. The actual distinction between the two is not very clear - if anyone out there has any information on this it would be appreciated.
